Closing

After 2 extensive years of providing the whole L.A. metal scene with great shows from bands spanning the world, the Black Castle will close it's gates for good on January 16th, 2010. I honestly don't blame the guy seeing how a number of his shows that should have gathered in hundreds of people ironically bring it a small amount. Averse Sefira, reigning from Texas, managed to only bring in fifty people while Kult ov Azazel, arriving from Florida, only gathered 25 people. These bands are big and the cost to support their trip over here is not cheap at all. I often wonder how can bands of quality gather such a small amount of bands while Horna, a band that technically only has 10 good songs/1 album, manages to pack the venue.

The whole scene has taken this venue for granted. They all believed that this place would stay open forever considering how many people are unaware how booking shows go. Sure, the venue had shitty bathrooms due to the excessive damages done by thrashers but it seems like that was actually a few reasons that stopped people from going. I never knew that people go to shows to examine the bathrooms.

The Black Castle was practically a home, drinking was easily accessible, music in between sets were actually metal 99.9% of the time, bands had a proper setting, and the sound beat plenty of those high class venues that corrupt the L.A. music scene as a whole. It's a pity that many people would rather go to backyard shows and bondage events instead of attending a deserving band.

Haven't smoked for 1 Day
